Already recognised as a writer, painter and multidisciplinary artist, she brings to the screen a background shaped by poetry, visual storytelling, performance and personal exploration.
Her acting debut is Thudakkam, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Jude Anthany Joseph. The Malayalam title, meaning “beginning,” is especially appropriate as the film marks Vismaya’s first major step as an actor. Scheduled for an Onam 2026 theatrical release, the project has already generated considerable interest among Malayalam cinema audiences.
Although she is the daughter of legendary actor Mohanlal and the sister of actor Pranav Mohanlal, Vismaya enters cinema with her own creative identity. Thudakkam, meaning “The Beginning,” is an upcoming Malayalam action entertainer marking the acting debut of Vismaya Mohanlal. Directed by Jude Anthany Joseph and produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Aashirvad Cinemas, the film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 7 August 2026.
The film brings together Vismaya Mohanlal, Aashish Joe Antony and Mohanlal in prominent roles. While its complete storyline remains under wraps, the promotional material suggests an emotionally intense journey combining personal struggles, relationships and action. The misty landscapes and travel imagery featured in the posters also create a sense of mystery and adventure.
The screenplay is written by Jude Anthany Joseph, Akhil Krishna and Linish Nellikkal. The technical team includes cinematographer Jomon T.
